Issei KOBAYASHI Biography

Fifteen-year-old violinist Issei Kobayashi, over the past four years, has been a top prize winner both at the Japan Classical Music Competition as well as at the All-Japan Student Music Competition, where he was the First Prize winner for three consecutive years.
He began his violin studies at age six in his home town of Hiroshima City, where he spent much of his time at a nearby church listening to Bach cantatas, music concerts, and pipe-organ performances.
He has performed with the Kojima Musica Collegium, NHK Symphony Orchestra's “Hotto Concert,” and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra's “Young People’s Concert.”
He has has studied privately with Hideo Kojima and Ysuo Mito, and has participated in masterclasses of such other noted teachers as Gérard Pouret, Oleh Krysa, Zakhar Bron, Masabumi Hori, and Akiko Tatsumi.
He now lives in Tokyo City where he studies with Ysuko Otani, serves as concertmaster for the Junior Orchestra, and where he soon will be entering the renowned Japanese music school, The Music High School, affiliated with the Faculty of Music TOKYO GEIDAI.
In addition to enjoying football, basketball, and cooking, it is his dream to be an international pilot and concertmaster of a major orchestra.
